The club has been at its purpose built pond for over 20 years, but the club has been in existence since 1983. The site is shared with Southport Model Engineering Club who offer the public model train rides throughout the year. Our site is Jubilee Pond on Rotten Row in Southport. The clubs regular sailing times are Wednesday and Sunday mornings, although the pond is open to members and the public 7 days a week 24 hours a day.
For members the club has off road parking and toilet facilities.
Night sailing and suppers are a regular event at the pond, including an annual duck race as well as open days and boat bring and buy events. The club regularly visit and support events at Martin Mere, Ellesmere Port,Colwyn Bay ,Haydock Park and Blackpool where they have won trophies for best stand.
As with most clubs IC engines are not permitted, but steam, electric and sail craft are always welcome. The club has regular newsletters to keep members informed of current news and events.
At Southport Model Boat Club are proud to support our charity of choice Southport Inshore Life Boat. Southport Model Boat Club is a member of Merseyside Model Boat Association.
