She’s now been completed and I’m very pleased with the way she sails and looks on the water. My ballast system works well, and all other systems, anchor winch, bow thruster, radar and lighting all work as planned. She’s a heavy model, but I get around that problem by only putting the lead acid batteries in when she is in the water.

I usually build warships, but I felt it would be a nice change to build a colourful tanker.

January 2024

My current project is an OIl / Gas tanker. Based on a Deans marine fibreglass hull,  she is a single screw ship fitted with a bow thruster.

As she is quite large (6ft long), I have fitted four 2 litre tanks in the hull which have two pumps that will pump water ballast to get her down to correct trim.

She will feature a working anchor winch, radar, lights, horn, and a helicopter deck.

There is a lot of pipe work detail on the main deck, and that will be my next task.

I started the project in September 2023 and hope to see her in the water in the spring 2024.
