Each month we celebrate one of our member's outstanding boats. From steam-powered vessels to custom builds, our Boat of the Month showcases the incredible craftsmanship and dedication of our club members.
2023 - 2024
Moonraker
A big well done to Eddie Hawron who's luxury Cruiser Moonraker is our September Boat of the Month. The boat was built by a fellow club member, Mr Ray Biddle, a number of years ago.
Technical Details
- Build quality and electrical installation is exemplary
- Sails happily for over two hours on new batteries
- VP 4.8V 4300mAh NiMH pack for electronics
- Two Zeee 7.8V 9000mAh LiPo packs connected in parallel for drive motors
- Automated reversing buckets
- Functional power trim tabs
Iona
The Iona is a typical Hebridean island supply vessel which was working around the turn of the century.
Technical Details
- Hull obtained from Krick
- Interior with planked decking of balsawood
- Mahogany strip caulking effect
- Laminated mahogany aft rail
- 3 inch vertical boiler
- Clyde twin cylinder engine
Lady K
A beautiful example of a Gribbin Head tug, showcasing excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Batboat
This was something I always wanted but they never released an RC one - so I made my own. Built on a sea hornet hull, it's not an exact scale model, just my interpretation.

- Built on a sea hornet hull
- Brushless motor
- Working lights on the dash
- Flashing LEDs set in the engine
- Most parts are 3D printed or scratch built from wood
- Sails really well!
